IS is now also able to provide specific infrastructure facilities to customers, having received a full Electronic Communications Network Service( ECNS) license in 2009.


As a Hosted Applications Engineer in the Communications team, your responsibility includes design, enhancement, implementation, management, monitoring, availability management and administration of the Hosted Applications core infrastructure. This includes the array of solutions including Hosted Exchange, Sharepoint and Lync in the Communication Services business unit.


The Engineer must interact successfully with other areas of the business and with all 3rd party providers. The success of this role will be decided on the continued uptime and stability of all application infrastructures thereby ensuring technical excellence for services delivered to the market.

What we will expect you to do:



As a Hosted Applications Engineer you will be responsible for:

Administration and Management of existing infrastructure;
Implementing, monitoring and maintaining production servers / systems;
Enhancements of functionality for relevant infrastructure;
Complex design work, with input into the design mandatory. The engineer will require good project management skills;
Scheduled maintenance on a daily/weekly/monthly basis on all servers in the environment as well as approving any changes on an infrastructure layer;
All documentation on the environments such Capacity Management, Availability management, Change management, Problem Management and any other ITIL or ISO20k documentation;
Providing monthly reports on all aspects of the running of the platform, for example availability and capacity in line with defined policies;
Provide 3rd level support/escalation and, from time to time, training for the support teams, installation teams, management, sales, service management, business units and solutions architects;
Assist internal personnel with general enquiries;
Dealing with our 3rd party suppliers;
Dealing with requests incoming from the Global Service Center (GSC), troubleshoot any issues and provide a resolution;
Standby is compulsory on a rotational basis. During standby the engineer will assist with afterhours requests escalated from the support teams, management, sales, service management, business units and solutions architects;
Availability and Capacity Management;
Enhance and manage the redundancy and DR strategy for applicable infrastructure



Qualifications


Here’s what we are looking for in candidates for this job:


Key requirements:

Technical Certification to compliment experience (e.g MCTS\MCITP)
Suitable networking qualification (e.g. CCNA)
Suitable University Degree or Technical Diploma will be beneficial; and
Candidates with other relevant degrees or work experience will be considered
5 years within related environments ideally with collaboration products such as Exchange and Sharepoint;
Solid general server and network monitoring skills;
Detailed knowledge of the SMTP protocol;
MS SQL server, IIS, Active Directory, MS DNS, and basic routing and switching experience;
XML, HTML and Programming/Scripting skills is a plus.
