Gov Cert of Competence: Mine Manager’s (Recommended/Desirable )

Experience & Requirements:


6-8 years (in total) Relevant within a heavy industry / mining / production environment (Essential/Minimum) (Operational)
3 years Mining and related processes; Project management (Essential/Minimum) (Management)
ECSA (Essential / Minimum)

Key Performance Areas:


BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AND OPERATIONS
Assist with the execution of the functional strategy. Support the development and implementation of mine planning and risk management systems. Assist in developing systems to ensure legal compliance. Support in the build and implementation of BU mining strategies for customers. Determine impact of risk relating to business strategy. Provide expert support and direction in technical ventilation. Identify needs and support Line with respect to all discipline issues. Ensure project and scope of work execution in line with Mining SLA's and service delivery standards. Technical contribution in individual skills area including active involvement in peer review process. Increase awareness of technology advancements to meet business deliverables. Produce macro evaluation of reserve; detailed reserve statements and product flows (mining); equipment and staffing forecasts. Ensure project work plans are executed and revised effectively. Benchmark best practices in developing technical specifications.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Manage budget and/or capital budget agreed upon in project charter. Manage cost recovery aligned to departmental targets.
COMPLIANCE, GOVERNANCE AND ASSURANCE
Support the department to implement controls to ensure legal compliance within designated area. Utilise the SHE management systems in the work environment. Recognise, understand and take action to manage risks that can impact on the outputs of own job. Provide inputs and participate in the definition of governance systems for best practice. Adhere to the requirements of the quality management systems. Ensuring that the sections contracted SHE targets is achieved. Set good personal examples on safety and health issues. Align and implement Exxaro SHE targets that are applicable to discipline activities. Display a culture that focuses on safety in all operations.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Execute technical evaluations of growth projects in various developmental stages, as well as active mines offered to the company, by applying appropriate evaluation methods, custom built system tools and project management principles. Works largely independent, managing and directing projects/scope-of-work, people and budgets. Lead Project teams, on smaller projects, so that results are delivered on time and on budget to support mining operations in BU's and Growth projects. Enforce high project management standards and ensure that deliverables are reviewed before handing over to BU. Recognise, understand and take action to mitigate and manage risks that can impact on the implementation of engineering solutions. Ensuring adequate discipline related change management.
TALENT MANAGEMENT AND SERVICE MANAGEMENT

Act as ECSA supervisor to ensure formal training for engineers to be compliant to ECSA requirements for registration where applicable. Compile and execute personal development plan. Support Principal to ensure the appointment of adequately qualified staff. Adhere to guidelines and standards associated with quality delivery of services and expert consultation provided by the incumbent, in a manner that is aligned to the services framework and consistent with customer agreements. Supply inputs to identify service performance improvement opportunities. Customer knowledge (Customer Satisfaction Index); Service targets; Turnaround times.
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND CI
Maintain relationships with appropriate parties to facilitate the optimal functioning of the specific engineering discipline. Support with the identification and investigation of problems and assist in the development of solutions toward optimising applicable processes/systems. Participate in the evaluation of discipline-specific standards, principles and practices to enable the design and implementation of engineering outcomes, supporting the business strategy. Conduct advanced analysis of business systems and processes. Participate in the implementation of appropriate quality management systems and methodologies to ensure delivery of high quality projects and engineering outcomes. Maintain internal and external professional networks. Support the development and implementation of an appropriate approach to knowledge management for the discipline, in line with business needs. Identify and evaluate improved engineering solutions.

Key Performance Areas:
Appointments are dependent on the completion of a successful medical examination and receipt of a valid medical certificate. Exxaro facilicates such medical examinations where required.
