JOB PURPOSE

Analyse the Operations with a view to establishing and managing a stable Data Centre Services environment and observe the health of SARS IT services by initiating remedial actions to minimize the impact of service incidents and systems events .

DUTIES

Establish operations priorities and schedules, in line with operating objectives
Provide advice and support to unit management in the research, design and development of effective operating procedures and practices
Analyse and review to ensure continuous improvement in Data Centre Operations for effective and efficient productivity
Ensure that the performance obligations of all computing systems are met
Generate and compile reports based on findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues
Help identify, communicate and resolve malfunctions and make the appropriate recommendations in order to maximise the benefit of SARS systems investments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A relevant diploma in Information Technology or
A directly related higher degree from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience on a year-to-year basis

The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:

Ability

Provide advice and support to unit management in the research, design and development of effective operating procedures and practices

Experience

Application programming experience
4-6 years experience in Mainframe Data Processing/Operations
Experience in Hardware Peripherals

Knowledge

Understand the concepts of Problem and Change Management
Extensive operations knowledge in ADABAS, z/OS, JCL, JES2, TSO, SDSF, ISPF, VTAM, OPEN SYSTEMS
Understand the concepts of Automation/Control software
Good understanding of Operating Standards and Procedures within an operations environment
