Minimum Requirements


FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

§ Good drafting skills
§ Able to work effectively and efficiently in a highly pressurized and busy environment
§ Good communication ability across all levels and able to communicate complex concepts in an understandable manner
§ The ability for complex, logical and structured thinking
§ Ability to assimilate strategic initiatives into practical applications
§ Ability to evaluate and assess risks inherent in law and the ability to analyse business case and apply measures to guard against risks effectively whilst still facilitating efficiency within the business
§ The ability to formulate, create and draft contracts taking into consideration applicable law and business needs

Minimum qualification

§ Undergraduate degree and Postgraduate LLB or 4 year LLB degree
§ Admitted attorney
§ Specialist skill or qualification an added advantage depending on specific job portfolio

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

§ Qualified admitted attorney with at least 5-6 years post qualification experience

Job Specification


§ Assess business case for new transactions for efficacy in terms of the legal environment.
§ Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant laws & regulations
§ Proactively assess the law and risk inherent in each and every transaction and then negotiate solution and through creative drafting provide the business with legal and business appropriate agreements.
§ Provide Woolworths with specific legal advice relating to Tax, Logistics, general contracts for Head Office environment and commercial contracts and advice to support Clothing & General Merchandise, business unit.
§ Manage expenses in accordance with the departmental budget.
§ Facilitate training sessions and provide content for education sessions to the business on appropriate and relevant legal issues.
§ Build and maintain a sound relationship with the business units ensuring that business unit requirements are met.
§ Maintain and draft all standard agreements so that they are compliant with the current business needs and legal environment.
§ Complete Board reports including risk committee reports and resolutions for all contracts.
§ Respond to disputes whilst keeping Head of Legal informed with sufficiently detailed information of all progress therein.
