Post Description:
- Providing Technical support and backup with regard to the Information Technology of the Library and Information Centre, with the emphasis on the roll-out, maintenance and application of hard- and software for Library staff and clients. These duties are performed in close cooperation with central IT staff on the differernt campuses and the Library Systems Technician

The incument reports to the IT Sytems Technician located at the APK Library.
Requirements:
- Grade 12/ Matric
- A+ or equivalent qualification
- N+ or equivalent qualification
- Valid code 08 drivers license. The employee can be based at any UJ Library and will need to travel frequently to and from different campuses as the need arises.
- Thorough knowledge and proven experience of the setup and configuration of hard- and software
- Atleast three years experience of hard- and software support.
- Thorough knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office, Microsoft Active Directory, Outlook and antivirus software, e.g. Kaspersky
- Knowledge and experience of problem identification and problem solving with regards to hard- and software as well as basic network issues
- Ability to work independently
- Good people skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Knowledge and experience of portable barcode scanners and label printers
- Proficiency in English
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Ability to move and /or relocate IT equipment, such PCs and Printers
Recommendations:
- Relevant IT support experience within an academic environment
- IT Engineering or equivalent qualification
- Working experience of a Thin Client environment
- Knowledge of Faronics DeepFreez software
- Knowledge of Symantec Ghost software
- Working knowlegde of client software, e.g." Millennium" as well as Library -specific software. e.g. "Connexion"
- Proficiency in Afrikaans, isiZulu, and seSotho sa Leboa
- Handling of web-based fault reporting system.
- Experience in Library environment
