Job Title: Specialist: Events Management

Job Purpose:
Manage the planning and implementation of SARS corporate and international events and outreach programmes, and ensure successful communication of related activities.
Duties:
Develop and implement:
- A SARS-wide strategy with respect to events and events management in line with overall SARS strategic objectives and in support the division's objectives and goals
- An outreach programme for major SARS activities such as the annual Budget Speech and Tax Season
Take sole responsibility for the Commissioner's events as well as international events
Develop and implement strategies for all events and provide close-out reports
Establish a calendar of events and implement a system that enables effective long term planning for events, conferences and campaigns
Undertake event risk assessments and implement mitigating steps
Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
Negotiate and liaise with internal and external suppliers
Manage and control SARS branding and exhibition material
Work closely with the Office of the Commissioner and other divisions/stakeholders to effectively scope events and outreach activities, and to promote these effectively to target audiences.
Work closely with the Procurement/ Finance team to facilitate the correct processes and procedures.
Provide communication support across divisions according to the specific needs of the divisions
Adhere to SARS policies, standards and procedures, to ensure consistency in application across the division
Assist with special/ ad hoc communication assignments
Education & Experience:
At least a 3 year Communications degree/diploma
8 to 10 years communications experience with a focus on events management
