Key Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE
This position entails researching and developing strategies for the Green fund to positively transform the natural and built environment. The incumbent will report to the Secretariat Manager in the Green Fund Unit
The incumebent will be expected to:
Undertake policy research, analysis and strategic advisory in the environmental sector
Engage productively in the environmental policy space, providing sound technical inputs into appropriate external sector initiatives and policy forums, including on policy analysis, reform, and monitoring and impact evaluation
Mobilize internal and external resources for environmental sector road-mapping and knowledge sharing among key stakeholders, and play a leading role in positioning the Green Fund through value-add interventions
Carry out incisive case studies encapsulating sector experiences and lessons, and prepare papers and publications on sector best practice and emerging development issues
Advise Green Fund management on environmental issues, and provide the leadership and strategic direction for ensuring that the DBSA keeps abreast of best national and international practices and trends in the sector
Conceptualize an approach, research, tools that will advance the support for the mainstreaming of greening of built and natural infrastructure
Conceptualize project/programme, in key environmental programme areas e.g. water, sanitation, energy, waste
Participate in National and International workshops, conferences relating to environmental issues related to natural and built environment.
Expertise & Technical Competencies:
A Masters degree in environmental, project management or development related field of study
Masters degree in Environmental Science or engineering or relevant development field
Working knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and budgeting processes
Have at least 5 years professional experience in a relevant environmental area
Ability to work with the public and private sectors
Ability to analyse national and provincial policies, planning and budgeting processes, develops and design models for interventions
Proficient with Microsoft Office (MS-Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS
Outlook)
