Job Summary

Business Architect builds the enterprise blueprint through the definition of enterprise processes at the logical level, their relationships to all external entities and other enterprise value streams, and the events that trigger instantiation. It is a definition of what the enterprise must produce to satisfy its customers and compete in a market. Business Architect describes the business strategy, models, processes, services and organizational structure and provides the foundation upon which business architecture roles and partially other enterprise architecture roles base their decisions.

Responsibilities / Outputs Understand business strategy and perform business strategy impact analysis on enterprise business blueprint
Liaise with business stakeholders and understand their vision and needs in each of the divisions
Derive business direction by combining top-down and bottom-up needs analysis
Developing the baseline and target architectures using the following deliverables:
Defining business process from conceptual to physical level
Document the organization structure, identifying business locations and relating them to organizational units
Identify and define business functions This is a detailed, recursive step involving successive decomposition of major functional areas into sub-functions
Define the services that each enterprise unit provides to its customers, both internally and externally
Perform gap analysis and identify the initiatives between the current and future state
Develop the guidance necessary to flexibly evolve and optimize the business dimensions (people, process, technology) to achieve the enterprise change
Collaborates with business analysts and bridging the gap between project specific requirements and models and the enterprise requirements and models ensuring alignment to the target architecture
Collaborate with Business Integration Managers and business analysts in developing the business models for the target and project initiatives
Partnering with IT and business leaders, communicate and provide leadership and direction with respect to how the enterprise architecture supports the business strategies
Collaborates with business analysts and bridging the gap between project specific requirements and models and the enterprise requirements and models ensuring alignment to the target architecture
Collaborate with Business Integration Managers and business analysts in developing the business models for the target and project initiatives with the business architects
Partnering with IT and business leaders, communicate and provide leadership and direction with respect to how the enterprise architecture supports the business strategies
Foster a broad understanding of technologies relevant to JSE business strategies
Understand in detail the relationships between products/services and the architecture of them
Work collaboratively with the infrastructure areas of IT to: Develop business focused requirements for the technical architecture, evaluate alternative technologies and recommend appropriate solutions that fit the enterprise architecture
Collaborate to establish and communicate processes for updating the enterprise architecture (e.g. adding and eliminating technologies, applications, data stores, etc) and for handling exceptions to the architecture
Developing the clear traceability of the architectural decisions to the elements of the business strategy
Keep current with and report on industry trends including architecture modelling, domain blueprints, frameworks, emerging technologies, best practices, etc Anticipate enterprise-wide technological opportunities, evaluate market trends and recommend corporate technical direction
Communicate with business stakeholders and get their buy-in on the rationale behind recommendations

Experience

Minimum 5 years experience in technology research methodologies
Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or other relevant discipline from an accredited school is preferred
Solid understanding and insight across all aspects of IT with in-depth knowledge and experience in at least one of the disciplines
Must demonstrate strategic thinking and insight
Strong financial experience with emphasis on budgeting, ROI and Total Cost of Ownership
Senior business analysis experience with a strong foundation in process mapping/engineering
Thorough understanding to architecture framework like TOGAF or equivalent
Process Modelling experience using a global standard like ARIS or equivalent
Solid understanding and insight across all aspects of IT with in-depth knowledge and experience in at least one of the disciplines
Strong financial experience with emphasis on budgeting, ROI and Total Cost of Ownership
Solid experience working in a multi-disciplinary team, fostering collaboration and teamwork
Experience in investment banking or financial services preferred
Solid experience in interacting with internal and external customers with demonstrated customer service orientation
Expert experience with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
Experience in working with an enterprise architecture tool will be preferable
Understanding of the JSE will be an advantage
