Introduction
The U.S. Embassy in Pretoria is seeking three individuals for the position of Chauffeur in the General Services Office (GSO).

Items 1- 5 are ALL REQUIRED
1. Education: Successful completion of secondary school (Grade 10) or equivalent required.
2. Experience: Two years of professional full-time chauffeur or driver experience and an overall accident-free driving record for the past five years is required.
3. Language:
- English level III – good working knowledge in writing, reading and speaking is required.
- Level II (limited knowledge) in another local South African language is required.
4. Knowledge:
- Must have a thorough knowledge of and familiarity with South African roads, driving conditions and restrictions.
- Must be familiar with the city layout of Pretoria and Johannesburg (Gauteng area) and their suburbs.
- Must have sound knowledge of S.A. Government and other important buildings.
- Must have knowledge of how to operate a Global Positioning System (GPS).
5. Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to read road maps and plot routes to unfamiliar destinations.
- Must be able to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles to include passenger sedans and vans as well as small trucks.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license Code 10 (C1) with valid Professional Drivers Permit (PDP) endorsement.
- Must be able to maintain precise written transportation records.
- Must be able to work as a member of a team of chauffeurs cooperating with each other and their supervisor for the safe and timely performance of all duties.
Job Specification
Basic Function of Position:
The incumbent operates motor vehicles to transport passengers, documents and parcels as required. The incumbent works varying shifts, both American and South African holidays, and weekends on a rotating basis to meet the transportation requirements of the mission. Also, on a rotating basis, the incumbent will transport passengers to other areas in South Africa, and occasionally, across the land border to neighboring countries, which will require one or more days of travel outside of Pretoria.
Basic Salary: R90,345 – R126,480 per annum
Cash Benefits: R19,143 – R22,154 per annum
Non-cash benefits include medical, pension and others where applicable
