Introduction

• To transform business requirements into well-defined system specifications
• To design and support complex solutions that enable optimum business performance
• To respond to complex user queries, and provide solutions to resolve issues
• To ensure stability of and ideal integration of new and existing systems
This is a 6 month contract position based at the Head Office in Cape Town
Minimum Requirements

FUNCTIONAL AND TECHNICAL
• 3 year IT qualification with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience
• Strong data manipulation and analysis skills (intermediate SQL skills required)
• Experience in data warehouse design/ dimensional modeling and ability to translate business requirements into systems requirements
• Ability to represent concepts, processes, data and technology infrastructure using structured modeling techniques and tools
• Knowledge of Business Intelligence systems and processes
• Knowledge of relevant methodologies and concepts (project management, SDLC, Data Quality, testing & support processes)
• Experience in retail an advantage

Job Specification

• Interface between BI business analysts, Business support groups, ITS colleagues/projects and BI development teams
• Interpret business requirement specifications (challenge when necessary) and propose technical solution
• Effectively plan, co-ordinate and complete the system design of complex BI end to end solutions (Data warehouse, Reports, Cubes, etc)
• Provide functional input and guidance to development teams when needed
• Analyze existing system, processes and interfaces for modification / improvement purposes and evaluate/ propose system changes/enhancements
• Assess and document the impacts of major or complex external system events/changes to the BI environment
• Design interfaces with other systems
• Quality assure changes through development of well-defined test conditions and perform integration and system testing
• Develop and maintain documentation (System Design/Requirement Specification, Source specification and test documentation)
• Support BI solutions by responding to complex user queries, investigating issues and managing the internal resolution thereof  
• Ensure stability of the existing systems environment by implementing solutions that do not compromise operational stability
• Participate in post implementation reviews for completed changes
• Contribute to internal ways of working (continuos improvement) and workshop alternatives/solutions to existing processes/challenges
• Provide system input to design of user training material
• Play a key role in coaching and mentoring colleagues
