Job Purpose:
• Analysing and interpreting AML/CFT and sanctions compliance requirements, drafting and maintaining policies, procedures, practices and processes relating to AML/CFT, sanctions compliance and other targeted regulatory risk matters for the Nedbank Group.
Key Functions / Responsibilities
Draft and Maintain Policy, Procedures, Practices and Processes to Ensure Compliance with Specific Industry Standards and Regulations:
• Analyse and extract relevant regulatory requirements and international standards for policy revision or drafting.
• Create inputs for internal rules - eg Manual for AML/CFT and Manual for Sanctions Compliance.
• Initiate research and review impact on the group's policies.
• Perform quality assurance.
• Advise the unit and business clusters on specific act(s) content and requirements.
• Perform gap analyses to identify possible risks between legislation, international best practice and the bank's implementation requirements.
• Generate position papers, business impact analyses and discussion documents for review by stakeholders.
• Initiate/create the necessary implementation and monitoring tools - eg checklists.
• Develop relevant processes.
• Update and maintain relevant logs eg MLCP and Sanctions Programme Risk logs.
Analyse and Monitor on-going Regulatory Requirements:
• Analyse and monitor business practices to ensure compliance with specific industry standards and regulations.
• Create awareness to AML/CFT and sanctions compliance trends.
• Advise relevant stakeholders.
Provide Support to the Bank's Business Units on Industry Standards and Specific Regulatory Requirements:
• Facilitate arbitration to ensure the group complies with requirements.
• Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders to ensure the group complies with specific requirements.
• Provide clarity and advice regarding specific regulatory requirements and international standards to business clusters.
Project Management:
• Initiate and manage projects within the policy and research domain.
• Provide input for related projects within the group and the unit.
Effective Self-Management:
• Create and manage own career through guidance and support of unit and colleagues.
• Manage stress and pressure effectively.
• Plan and prioritise effectively to ensure deadlines are met and quality standards maintained.
Requirements:
• Degree/Diploma
• Appropriate qualification in law/compliance.
• Preferably CAMS through ACAMS or Certificate in Money Laundering Control.
• 2 years' experience in AML/CFT and sanctions compliance in a banking environment or similar.
• Banking/Financial Services would be preferred.
• Standard, but outputs and deadlines must be met
• POCA; FICA; POCDATARA; The Banks' Act; BASEL II; Corporate Governance; Code of Banking Practice.
• Clean personal credit and criminal rating.
