Regional Security Manager

Job Purpose:
• Provide a safe and secure business environment for the group.

Key Functions / Responsibilities
Create awareness of security procedures and the use of security equipment throughout the group:
• Informally discuss crime trends with branch staff and regional office staff.
• Suggest and implement backup arrangements.

Ensure security suppliers perform all agreed functions:
• Ensure guards are properly dressed and fully operational; ensure that patrols (dogs and guards) are proactive and respond timeously.

Identify crime trends:
• Use the group's intelligence network to gather and disseminate information.
• Attend Police Community Fora.
• Collate information from other banks.
• Hold regular meetings with guarding companies.
• Collate SASA information.
• Monthly meetings with GASA.
• Meet with the bank's card division; Organise relevant security meetings.

Audit physical barriers within the group twice a year:
• On-site evaluation of equipment in place and age of equipment.
• Ensure equipment is 100% functional.
• Ensure staff know how to operate the equipment correctly.
• Ensure equipment meets safety compliance standards.
• Recommend security equipment replacement if required.
• Ensure all aspects of security audit documents (Risk Assessment and

Operational Data Base Information) are included in the evaluation.
Audit and implement security policy and procedure:
• Check branches' opening and closing procedures.
• Check key registers, cash limits in the general register, ATM limits.
• Check equipment testing register.
• Check alarm systems and CCTV.
• Check emergency evacuation procedures.
• Evaluate, and if necessary, act on the group's internal audit findings.

Identify defective equipment and apply for upgrades:
• Apply for additional capex when aging, defective equipment is identified or when additional equipment is required in the group - Head Office, branches, regions and ATMs.

Monitor Occupational Health and Safety policy and procedure:
• Check branches' OHSA files; Inspect fire extinguishers, first aid kits and emergency exits.
• Organise and evaluate evacuation drills and recommend the safest procedures.

ATM site risk evaluation:
• Check for known environmental risk factors - e.g. open veld, potential escape routes, bars and taverns.
• Take cognisance of SAPS' area crime rating.
• Gather information from other financial institutions in the vicinity.

Co-ordinate the implementation of security equipment in new and refurbished branches and ATMs:
• Obtain floor plans from the design office.
• Annotate security requirements on floor plans.
• Obtain quotations.
• Attend site meetings with contractors and all stakeholders.
• Check building progress.
• Obtain order numbers from tenant installations.
• Arrange and meet with security suppliers on site and agree on installation dates.
• Monitor progress.
• Quality control check and sign off.

Manage security equipment:
• Remove equipment after branch closure.
• Maintain accurate records of removed equipment.
• Recommend equipment re-deployment if specification is current.
• Identify old equipment to write off.

Effective Self Management:
• Create and manage own career through guidance and support of department and colleagues.
• Manage stress and pressure effectively.
• Plan and prioritise effectively to ensure deadlines are met and quality standards maintained.

Requirements:
• Matric.
• Diploma in security/risk management.
• Minimum 5 years' Security and safety environment experience.
• Banking / Financial Services.
• FAIS; FICA; Corporate Governance; Code of Banking Practice; Banking Acts.
