Introduction
The U.S. Embassy in Pretoria is seeking individuals for the position of an Electrician in the Facility Maintenance Office (FAC).

Items 1- 7 are ALL REQUIRED
1. Completion of secondary school standard 10 (grade 12). N-3 certificate and three years electrical apprenticeship including completion of
trades test exam is required.
2. Minimum 5 years experience (including period spent in apprenticeship) maintaining the systems and equipment found in residential and office buildings is required.
3. English level IV (fluent) writing/reading/speaking is required (This will be tested).
4. Knowledge of local laws and regulations governing the electrical trade is required.
5. Solid work knowledge of UPS generators, transfer switches, main switchgear units, power distribution, computerized controls and high tension voltage. Must have knowledge of established trade practices and procedures is required.
6. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Basic excel will be tested).
7. A valid South African driver’s license is mandatory.
Job Specification
Basic Function of Position:
The incumbent’s responsibility will be to trouble-shoot, diagnose, repair/replace and perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all electrical systems and appliances found in residential and office buildings. Must have the ability to make repairs in complex electrical systems and equipment including UPS, emergency genets, and computerized equipment monitoring systems.
