Key Performance Areas:


BUSINESS OPERATIONS
Set Core Architectural vision and direction aligned and as input to IM strategy. Develop and maintain a long term view on the ICT architecture with goal of ensuring fulfillment of business requirements in the most efficient way, leading to low total cost of ownership. Support Core by providing architectural andstrategic consulting in areas of architectural impact of new solution, principles andbest practice. Analyse emerging technology andtrends and assess business fit and viability of the technology trends. Develop ICT Policies standards procedures and guidelines for Core Architecture. Support definition of IM Service catalogue and supporting shaping IT initiatives. Identify ICT risks and develop risk mitigation action plans.
ARCHITECTURE FRAMEWORK
Inform and advise IM on technology, product and vendor trends ensuring that the IM is abreast with technology trends to optimise ICT architecture and solutions. Develop Proof-of-concepts for each technological innovation in order to qualify the opportunities. Benchmarking and best practice investigation of architecture framework and principles. Approve solution design within Architecture framework. Responsible for optimisation and Life cycle planning for Core assets. Investigation of architecture specific initiatives. Assist in conducting auditing and monitoring compliance to architecture standards. Inform and communicate IM leadership with regard to technology developments and trends. Facilitate collaboration across areas to exploit ICT synergies and avoid duplication.
CORE SOLUTION ARCHITECTURE
Develop road maps describing evolution of all core solution portfolios from current state to future state. Ensure project management or solution delivery life cycle efforts and project architects specifically leverage all aspects of EA. Analyze core business context (trends and business strategy), as well as change requirements in other core viewpoints, to derive the Core Solution Architecture change requirements to guide solution decisions for core. Consult with application or infrastructure development projects to harmonize systems or infrastructure with the ESA and identify when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate project needs. Ensure all individual solution architecture design and analysis work is documented. Advocate principles of core development and service delivery and be prepared to "sell" core processes.
TECHNICAL INFASTRUCTURE
Analyze Core business context (trends and business strategy) to derive technical architecture. Analyze current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. Lead the implementation of an Core Technical Architecture (CTA) based on business requirements and IT strategies, as well as to rectify gaps and pain points within the current state. Oversee technical architecture (for example, systems) implementation and modification activities (for example, projects), particularly for new and/or shared infrastructure solutions. Facilitate the evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards for the Core environment.
INFORMATION AND INTEGRATION ARCHITECTURE
Facilitate the mapping and audit ability of information ensuring optimal transparency, quality, consistency, integrity and controlled redundancy within Core. Facilitate consistent data access analysis and design, archiving and recovery strategies and security.
COMPLIANCE, GOVERNANCE AND ASSURANCE
Analyses and reports on possible relevant process and risk impacts and proposes corrective action. Ensure compliance with appropriate IM governance and compliance, statutory and or legal requirements. Assist with designing the governance activities associated with ensuring ETA compliance. Assist with governance activities associated with ensuring ESA and thus EA compliance. Monitor regulatory guidelines (such as privacy issues) to determine impact on enterprise information architecture. Monitor compliance and related guidance (such as data retention and audit requirements) to determine impact on enterprise information architecture.
BEST PRACTICE AND CI
Put in place Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve systems and processes by extracting information and compiling new reports and or existing standard reports on best practice systems and processes to identify and meet organisational needs. Builds relationships across the Exxaro IM stakeholders by sharing business information and knowledge.Responsible for relevant governance forums to educate and ensure compliance in line with Architecture framework, principles and standards with Solution Architects. Involved in other IM governance forums for advisory purposes.
