Job Title: Financial Reporting Analyst

Job Mission

•To implement and maintain appropriate financial reporting systems and prepare consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual financial results

KPA Duties

Key Tasks: •Compile MTN Group financial reporting according to standards, procedures and timelines, and preparing the consolidated financial results for MTN Group •Implement and maintain financial consolidation system and processes, keeping abreast of latest developments in IFRS and integrate into MTN Group accounting policies and procedures •Ensure compliance with IFRS and assist in transitioning the Group operations to IFRS •Quarterly reporting required in terms of loan & financial covenants, and also as a result of any other legal/regulatory conditions (eg SARB, Stats SA, etc) •Assistance to Group operations on accounting issues •Automated financial reporting system for all operations, aligned with Group consolidation process •Reports are correct, accurate, relevant, complete, and timeous, with overall time-to-close reduced to pre-defined objectives •Adherence to the regulations of the financial fraternity •Ensure integrity of financial reporting data collated and prepared at Group level •Ensure financial governance and compliance with Group financial processes, policies and procedures by operations •Automated financial reporting system for all operations, aligned with Group consolidation process •Reports are correct, accurate, relevant, complete, and timeous, with overall time-to-close reduced to pre-defined objectives •Adherence to the regulations of the financial fraternity •Ensure integrity of financial reporting data collated and prepared at Group level •Ensure financial governance and compliance with Group financial processes, policies and procedures by operations Responsibility towards: •Direct reports: To Group Financial Accountant •Matrix reports: GM Corporate Finance •Key customers: Executives or Operational MDs and CEOs, MD International •Key suppliers: Professional services organizations, IT service providers, Auditors •Relations: Operational unit Financial Managers, banks, SARB, SARS, Stats SA, SAICA Vulnerabilities (control span) •Manipulation of figures/ lack of integrity of underlying data reported to Group Finance •Late submission of required inputs by any of the Group’s operations •Critical skills provision to all operations re business planning and reporting •Unscheduled reporting requirements e.g. analysts, management •Fluctuating reporting formats

Requirements

•Chartered Accountant (SA)
Experience: •2 years experience with accounting for business combinations, preferably in the context of an international group •1 year Corporate head office environment experience, preferably with JSE-listed entities •Proficient with application of IFRS and consolidation principles Knowledge: •Detailed technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and application in a Group environment •Macro Economic understanding •Financial markets knowledge, including JSE reporting requirements •Funding instruments and funding processes understanding •Telecomms markets understanding and knowledge (preferable)
•High tolerance towards uncertainty and ambiguity •Cultural sensitivity •Analytical skills •Computer proficiency, including use of MS Office •Conflict resolution and motivational skills •Communication and interactive skills •Project management skills •Oracle Financial Analyser and Hyperion experience would offer a distinct advantage. •Fluency in French would also be an advantage
