Minimum Requirements

Qualification:
Engineering B-Degree or Equivalent
Project Management Diploma
Project Management Professional (PMP) registration with PMI
Experience:
4-5 years

Skills and Competencies

Project management knowledge (PMBOK)
Knowledge of business integration
Technical/System background
Eskom Financial Systems
Distribution Systems
Communication and Stakeholder management at executive level

Key Responsibilities

Project control on cost, time and quality by:
Ensuring that control measures for cost, time and quality are in place
Conducting regular site meetings
Applying quantity surveying measures on site
Ensuring holding points for inspection purposes
Issuing site instructions to correct quality or time misalignments
Recommending progress payments on completed work
Applying all Eskom Dx agreed project management standards and practices
Project planning by:
Developing a project plan from project approval to completion
Ensuring project activities are scheduled
Costing all activities in line with a work breakdown structure (WBS)
Confirming milestones with stakeholders and customers
Implementing design freeze and project baseline
Project communication and reporting by:
Ensures that an effective communication system is in place to provide timeous feedback for management, client and customer
Issuing site meeting minutes and action plans
Compiling weekly project flash reports submitted to stakeholders
Compiling monthly reports
Implementing project close out reviews
Project coordination and team management by:
Develops team spirit and ensuring that staff involved in the project are committed to the same goal
Negotiating the assignment of team members on a matrix basis for projects
Implementing the project office framework with formal project gaols supported by team members
Conducting regular project meetings with the team
Resolves disputes and conflict among team members by
Allowing for disputes to be logged
Applying the NEC principles and contact conditions
Escalating unresolved disputes to the next level or mediation
Project contract management by:
Ensuring that contractors are managed in a way that is fair to both Eskom and the contractor
Monitoring performance and highlighting areas of concern
Actively measuring progress against the contract
Ensuring adherence to the contract conditions and timelines
Issuing contract instructions on non adherence
Project commissioning by:
Ensuring the commissioning capturing of new assets into CO
Ensuring the availability of all site documentation and inspection sheets
Submitting as built drawings and single line diagrams
Planning all outages
Implementing a commissioning plan for all stakeholders
Attending commissioning, hand over and ensure sign-off
