Introduction
The aim of this position is to monitor the provision of healthcare services to patients registered on the Metropolitan Health HIV Programme (HIVP). The HIVP Department offers an exciting challenge to an individual with good communication skills and a client care focus.The successful incumbent will be reporting to the TL: HIV Programme
The Incumbent will be responsible for:
Ensuring cost-effective provision of healthcare to patients enrolled on the HIVP To liaise on a continuing basis with the case managers and administrative staff
Establishing close professional and confidential working relationships with patients and providers involved in the HIVP
Helping members to deal with the acceptance of and dealing with the diagnosis
Contacting all positive VCT referrals to the Unit and counsel appropriately
Explaining the benefits of enrolling onto the HIVP and encourage and facilitate enrolment
Maintaining comprehensive records keeping of all activities
Handling and processing all written and e-mail correspondence directed to counsellor
Receiving and dealing with telephonic enquiries directed to the counselor
Investigation and drafting of appropriate correspondence regarding counseled cases
Checking monthly updates on cases the counselor dealt with
Attending and participating in Department Meetings
Making suggestions for enhancements to the system whereby future queries may be dealt with more efficiently
Providing general assistance to the department as requested by the Manager and Team Leader
The applicant should meet these requirements:
Matric or equivalent
MS Office experience
2 years counseling experience
Counselling Certificate will be advantageous
Understanding of the HIV disease and medication
