Job Title: Communications Senior Analyst (12 moths contract)

Job Mission
• To analyse, implement, manage and co-ordinate a Communication Strategy and associated activities in line with the policy and procedures of MTN Group Corporate Communications to meet the requirements MTN Next Project.
KPA Duties
• Support change Partner Senior Specialist in delivering the change and communications strategy • Develop customised strategies for local OpCo HR and transformation champions • Work closely with wider programme team to understand change and communication needs and executes against these • Monitor success of programme change and communications channels and modifies approach as required • Conceptualize, execute and continuously review MTN’s internal stakeholder (staff and management) engagement strategy • Create and sustain a culture of employee engagement to ensure that MTN has an emotionally committed workforce • Sustain MTN as the employer of choice in the eyes of employees within the context of the project • Effectively manage the inclusion of MTN Next briefings in MTN’s bi-monthly publication, Y’ello Magazine, and all electronically generated communiqués (credibility, relevance, message consistency, dependability and convenience to the end-users being key) • Provide support to MTN Next project team and OPCO’s in order to communicate effectively with their staff • Undertake on-going monitoring and reviewing of MTN Next’s communication strategies and activities to ensure that they stay relevant and assist the project to achieve its objectives • Provide support to business units in the drafting of key communication messages • Create interactive platforms for staff to engage with one another, leveraging new media platforms Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Tasks: • Liaise with a team of communication professionals within the MTN Next project • Provide strategic guidance and internal/ external communications operational best-practice to MTN’s operations • Planning and organising • Cost effective and efficient service delivery • Management of Internal Communications budget • Managerial support in the provision of relevant credible communication services • Internal communications process and initiatives management Lateral Dimensions: • Contributes towards continuous improvement through capturing learnings and implementation of best practice. • Interprets internal customer requirements and delivers flexible credible communication vehicles to meet these needs. • Consensus-building, conflict resolution and prevention, strong understanding of team dynamics • Work processes and capacity development initiatives • Collaborative skills and sensibilities to work across divisions creating value added and buy in to the internal communication role and deliverables. • Adaptability to change. Key customers: MTN Next Operational steering committee ? Key suppliers: A communications/publishing agency, divisional heads, line managers, design company Independent thought and Judgement: • Full responsibility for internal communication delivery according to agreed performance outputs. • Contribute in defining improved ways to deliver credible, value-added internal communication across all organisational levels. • Set internal communication direction utilising strategic CC input and the “MTN Way”
Requirements
Education: Bachelor Degree in Communication and/or Journalism Training: • Advanced computer skills • Processes of internal written communication practice and procedure • Written presentations skills • Computer based communication skills
Experience: • A minimum of five years corporate communications experience • 4 years at a managerial level • Must have cross-functional communication experience in a corporate environment • Editorial experience • Experience, with demonstrable evidence, in new media Knowledge: • Knowledge of internal communication channels • Computer aided design technologies • Internal newsletter compilation practices • Telecoms • Corporate communication practices and procedures
