Job Title: Research Nurse
The Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health seeks to appoint 1 suitably qualified Clinical Nurse. This position involves the implementation of a research study at selected healthcare facilities in the Drakenstein sub-district, and psychiatric assessment of individuals enrolled in the project. The study is a large Gates-funded research project investigating the epidemiology and aetiology of maternal and childhood health outcomes in primary health care settings in Paarl, Western Cape.
Requirements include:
• A qualification as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner, and registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner
• Proficiency in English and Afrikaans or isiXhosa
• Experience relevant to the practice of Psychiatry, and in the field of general adult Psychiatry
• Experience and proficiency in the administration of psychiatric rating scales
• Experience of anxiety disorders would be an advantage.
• Computer literacy in MS Word and Excel.
Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in a clinical research setting would be advantageous.
Responsibilities include:
• Day-to-day execution of the study protocol, in conjunction with the Project Managers and Project Director
• Liaising with staff at clinic facilities, including professional nurses and managers
The 2012 annual cost of employment for this full-time (37.5 hours per week) position, is negotiable between R200,452.00 - R235,811.00 and will be determined by the incumbent’s qualifications and experience.
