Minimum Requirements

Qualification:
B Tech Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (HC / LC)
Registered Engineering Technician with ECSA
Level 2 / intermediate level of Accreditation in specific discipline - Apply and interpret standards and procedures.
Experience:
Minimum 4 years job related experience in specific discipline.
Skills and Competencies

Ability to adapt to a high rate of change of technology employed
In depth knowledge and understanding of discipline specific technology and technical skills. (Protection / Metering / Telecontrol / DC Systems or Telecommunication
Accredited to level 2 or intermediate level on Discipline specific equipment.
Innovative thinking skills
Valid driver license. (Code 08)
Ability to integrate effectively with other specialist disciplines.
Key Responsibilities

Maintains discipline specific equipment ( protection / telecontrol / metering / DC or telecomms ) on a scheduled basis as allocated by the Works Management Centre according to discipline specific policies and standards
Diagnose, Repair faults on discipline specific equipment ( protection / metering / DC / telecontrol or telecomms) allocated by Works Management Centre by:
Performing standby duties on a scheduled basis.
Reacting to equipment failures as dispatched by WMC.
Apply fault finding techniques as well as innovative ideas, logic and novel approaches to determine the cause of the failure.
Restores and integrates the equipment to functional status.
Installs and commissions discipline specific equipment ( protection / telecontrol /metering / DC or telecomms ) on a scheduled basis as allocated by the Works Management Centre / Head of Discipline specific TSS according to discipline specific policies and standards.
Takes a leadership responsibility for EDFS discipline specific work during maintenance, fault finding, repair and commissioning on major plant and key customer installations by applying advanced skills and experience and leading EDFS field work execution staff.
Undertakes and reports on discipline specific customer and special investigations for Customer Services, Field Services, EDS. EDNS, System Optimisation and other stake holders for:
Customer supply points and EDFS equipment.
Network incidents.
Acts as mentor and coach for newly appointed EDFS staff and trainees as well as FSC staff.
Ensures that drawings are updated, revisions marked up and submitted to EDNS group.
Ensures that all administration related duties pertaining to the standards, works orders and legal requirements are performed.
Performs maintenance, repair, installation and commissioning activities in accordance with safety standards, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and statutory appointments by:
Conforming to General Machinery Regulations, General Administration Regulations, General Safety Regulations, Environmental Regulations and Driven Machinery Regulations.
Responsible for safe work place and resources.
