IS is now also able to provide specific infrastructure facilities to customers, having received a full Electronic Communications Network Service( ECNS) license in 2009.

As a Strategic Account Manager you will need to:


A Strategic Account Manager is very different from a salesperson, even though they both require the same “drive for results” and “passion”. Strategic Account Managers must know how businesses work, have a grasp of finance and must be capable of putting together good financial arguments and justifications at board level. They are “deal makers”, who are mature individuals able to conduct themselves at any level within the client organisation up to CEO level, where they must be capable of achieving “trusted advisors” status. They have highly developed interpersonal skills, are politically astute and must be articulate in both the spoken and written word. They are fully accountable for the yield, and the relationship between the clients and their own organisation, therefore needing to be skilled in managing the virtual team.


They need to know the market, their own products, the competition, and their own company and its capabilities. They do not need to be technical experts, but they must demonstrate an excellent conceptual understanding of their offering and what these can do for their client’s business. They will resource specialist knowledge from technical experts or pre sales professionals as and when required and facilitate workshop sessions as appropriate. Above all, the Strategic Account Manager needs to know the customer inside out and be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding and knowledge of their customers industry. They view their account(s) as a market place and will be expected to find opportunities for as many of their offerings as are applicable to such a market place (i.e. account), skilfully qualifying-out opportunities unlikely to yield.


They are the representative (and advocate) of the client to their own internal organisation, and vice versa. They must be good at problem solving, and are analytical in their approach. In their organisational capacities they must pay sufficient attention to detail to ensure accuracy in contractual and administrative duties, yet at the same time they need to be able to stand back and look at the big picture. They have to be able to make sound commercial presentations, negotiate and sell new ideas and propositions (thought leadership). They must be outstanding listeners who are pro-active by nature, able to prioritise and demonstrate a sense of urgency when required.
This is seen as a senior position in the sales team and this individual should act as a role model for the rest of the sales team; therefore the utmost professionalism and adherence to their personal brand and the IS core values is critical to their success.

Qualifications


Here’s what we are looking for in candidates for this job:


Key requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric) or similar qualification. A Post Matric Qualification is an advantage.
5 years sales/account management experience preferably within the IT industry (infrastructure or networking communications will be an advantage).


Key abilities required:

Competent in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills.
Advantageous if the candidate has previous experience working with a CRM package.
