Description:
POSITION: ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN: CATALOGUING LB10 (Information Resources)
Qualifications and Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Library and Information Science or a Bachelors degree with a Postgraduate diploma
2-3 years related experience
Practical experience in using AACR2, MARC21, LC Classification and LCSH, the Millennium Library System, Connexion (OCLC), and the creation of metadata records for digital material
Accuracy and attention to detail
Computer literacy
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
Creating and copying bibliographic records on OCLC and downloading to Millennium
Creating metadata records on the university’s institutional repository for Wits’ theses and other library digital initiatives
Contributing to the maintenance of up to date authority records on the catalogue
Assisting with re-cataloguing projects
Working hours are Monday – Friday 08h00-16h30 or 08h30-17h00.
