Job Title: Regional Housing Microfinance Project Manager (Africa/Middle East region), Pretoria , South Africa

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a microfinance professional to serve as the Regional Housing Microfinance Project Manager for our AME Area Office. This key position will lead the overall implementation of the project "Building the Shelter Assets of the Poor" in the region and will oversee and manage all in-country Project staff. The Regional Housing Microfinance Manager will report to the Director of Housing Finance, be based at our AME Area Office in Pretoria, South Africa, and will be the primary HFHI contact for all in-country project initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical assistance to financial service partners:
Participate in formulating and implementing the partner selection process
Carry out due diligence of potential and existing HMF partners when required
Lead the planning, and oversee the implementation of market research studies, and product development processes for partner institutions
Design, develop, promote, define and refine housing micro finance partnerships with financial institutions
Technical Leadership:
Development of TORs for various consulting assignments, and identification/selection of consultants
Develop reporting standards (financial and narrative), and maintain consolidated project wide report
Participate in the design, planning, monitoring and evaluation of the program activities
Oversee and, in some cases, directly manage external consultants engaged to carry out different activities throughout the program implementation (i.e. trainings, various studies, and assessments)
Collect and collate monitoring reports from the project countries on monthly basis and provide support to country based managers to address issues identified
Manage country based project staff
Training to partner MFIs and other stakeholders (including consultants):
Train the country based project staff, and consultants, when required, to increase their capacity to deliver with excellence the outputs included within the program implementation
Design and development of HMF trainings, based on HMF best practice delivery and management processes
Research and knowledge management:
Support in the design of monitoring systems for the program implementation
Manage and, when required, participate of HMF impact assessments, evaluations, supply and demand studies, and other studies as may be required
Oversee the implementation of market research for HMF (demand and supply analysis)
Coordinate the documentation of case studies highlighting emerging lessons
Where necessary review, redesign or design new housing finance products
Peer Learning:
Increase visibility of HMF and Habitat's work by sharing the emerging best practices based on project results
Facilitate the advancement of knowledge and learning amongst peers in the sector within the region
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Master's Degree in Economics, Finance, Social Sciences or development related field OR a degree in a related field, and equivalent field experience
High level understanding and a minimum of 12 years' experience in the field of microfinance/development finance
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Experience in housing microfinance, housing finance, microfinance and community development work
Organizational / project management skills, and proven experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE A MAJOR PLUS:
5 years working in the African context is desirable
Experience in conducting or supervising research and product development process
Experience and capacity to deliver training
Experience in Market Research
Good people skills with the ability to communicate cross-culturally and work in teams
Ability to work independently, often managing multiple and simultaneous tasks at varying levels of complexity and detail
