Key Responsibilities:

The African World Heritage Fund (AWHF) www.awhf.net, is a non-governmental organization established in 2006 with a mission to support the implementation of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention (1972) on the African Continent. The AWHF works for the effective conservation and protection of Africa's natural and cultural heritage, and for increasing the presence of African sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
African World Heritage Fund is looking for a well connected and highly motivated Fundraising Officer who will support the AWHF in executing the AWHF Fundraising Strategy by performing the following tasks:
• Provide vision and advise in the implementation of the resource mobilization strategies of the AWHF.
• Implement specifically targeted resource mobilization form African States Parties.
• Organize regular meetings and contacts with established and potential financial partners.
• Identify new financial partners for the AWHF activities.

Expertise & Technical Competencies:

A degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related field.
Minimum of five years senior fundraising experience with a proven track record of success in fundraising and a strong knowledge of the sector;
Valid driver’s licence;
Strong technical management of philanthropic fundraising techniques: direct mail, face-to-face fundraising, major donor recruitment, legacy programmes and special events campaigns;
Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to inspire others;
Ability to negotiate with staff at all levels (from fundraising staff, to executive management and board members);
Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skill, as well as financial literacy;
Strong computer skills and ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
