Role Description:
Manage, direct and control the Scaw Metals payroll function in compliance with statutory provisions, company policies and generally accepted accounting practices
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure that payrolls are run timeously.
• Monitor staff adherence to Group policies and processes and assuring compliance with legislative and regulatory policies.
• Critically review and analyze current payroll systems, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
• Ensure the processing of new employee engagements, contractors, transfers, promotions and
terminations is accurate and timely.
• Examine and sign off all administrators input files weekly and before payroll runs.
• Oversee the monthly reconciliation process and manage the annual SARS returns to ensure accuracy
• Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll reports.
• Management of Accounting entries from the payroll and addressing all Finance General Ledger Journal / payroll related queries.
• Oversee the departmental workload for the purpose of maximizing efficiency and meeting operational requirements.
• Keep abreast of new legislation and changes and ensure that team members are informed thereof
• Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure that all payroll related issues are dealt with proactively, efficiently and within a reasonable turnaround time.
• Mentoring and coaching of staff
Qualifications, Experience and Skills required:
• Financial related degree
• Degree or Diploma in Payroll Management / SAP Payroll
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Payroll Manager
• Comprehensive and working knowledge of Payroll systems
• Business Process Improvement Experience
• Strong SAP Payroll, report writing skills, Analytical and Numerical skills
• Previous experience with Tax Reconciliations
• High attention to detail
• Excellent written and Communication Skills
• Strong Customer Service Skills
• Ability to build and manage relationships.
