The Investment Cluster Distribution Support retail team is a dedicated centralised cluster distribution business that supports nine product providers within the Investment Cluster.
Key Responsibilities
Primary objective is to build and maintain professional and productive client relationships in order to secure asset flows into the Sanlam Investment Cluster (including local and international unit trusts, private client portfolios as well as specialised solutions and hedge funds)
Promote new and enhance existing business by serving as a proactive relationship manager for assigned accounts and distribution channels in the region (predominantly via IFA’s, Sanlam Financial Advisors and LISP’s)
Interface between specialist areas and clients – co-ordinate marketing, sales and support functions
Achieve new business targets, and develop and implement an annual business plan
Provide technical specialist retail support to the intermediary, act as a point of reference, respond and resolve problems of a complex nature
Generate, communicate and distribute quality and relevant information to clients and distribution channels
High level communication and presentation standards (one-on-one and groups)
Influence the outcomes of investment decisions made by intermediaries
Identify opportunities to position and sell the correct solution from the Sanlam Group and Investment Cluster perspective
Event management - entertain clients, and initiate and facilitate actions around client events
Minimum Requirements
Relevant tertiary financial/investment qualification
Competencies
Technical Competencies:
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the retail investment industry
Good understanding of basic investment principles, financial instruments and unit trusts
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills; able to initiate and execute on asset gathering initiatives
Strong fundamental understanding of client needs and investment management principles
Understanding of corporate and industry distribution channels and structures
Experience gained in a similar role with another SA Financial Services player – including unit trust, asset management or Lisp industry
Good proficiency in Microsoft Office and Moneymate
Strong presentation, communication and investment marketing skills
Behavioral Competencies:

Strong networking skills and the ability to build professional relationships with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders.
