Introduction
An excellent full time opportunity exists for an individual with a background in General Practice and training in Evidence Based Medicine to join a dynamic team catering for the risk needs of a progressive client scheme. Reporting to the Senior Manager: PMB you will assume a challenging and wide-ranging portfolio.
The Incumbent will be responsible for:
Clinical basket development and ongoing maintenance.
Clinical research for the development of guidelines and protocols in line with PMB policy.
Medical Advisory: Assist with escalated PMB cases as directed .
Managing the delivery of clinical input across the business.
Overseeing the effective application of PMB clinical policies and protocols across the business.
Attendance of Medical Advisors meetings.
Relevant work to be done with reference to medical scheme rules and within the parameters of relevant coding rules and Evidence Based Medicine.
Conducting or facilitating training where and when required
Other relevant tasks as may arise.
The applicant should meet these requirements:
An MB ChB or M Fam Med qualification or alternatively an equivalent tertiary qualification
Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner
Professional Indemnity Insurance
Experience in research in a wide variety of disciplines
Insight into private and public practice
Experience in MHC which includes protocol and guideline development
Sound knowledge of evidence-based medicine
Knowledge of clinical coding and PMB policy ( contacts with NDoH, CMS and BHF would be an advantage )
Computer literacy especially with respect to Internet searches, e-mail and MS Office (Word and Excel). Access will be an advantage
