Objectives:
•Provide high level support for Data Networks Elements
•Perform Integration, Testing and Configuration Management for Data Network platforms (routers and switches) according to approved Change Management procedures.
•Evaluation and implementation of new IOS software releases for Data Network elements (Routers and Switches).
•Trouble ticket management according to current policies and procedures.
•Evaluate system architecture and recommend system improvements to other engineering departments and suppliers.
•Evaluation and implementation of IP-routing for new technologies (SIGTRAN, VoIP solutions, IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS), Next Generation Networks).
•Compile and keep site documentation up to date.
•Interface with Contractors and other divisions in Vodacom to overcome / solve data-related problems.
•Provide input into Data Networks Architecture and Planning division to assist with Core strategy planning.
•Design and develop Data Networks Support tools.
•Develop and maintain operational procedures to be followed by Operational Support staff in the execution of their duties.
•Maintain productive relationships with suppliers and other groups in the company.

Requirements:
•A 3 year relevant degree (NQF level 6), diploma (NQF Level 5) or equivalent Technical qualification required with
•Min 3 Years working experience in Telecommunications and IP Networks (Essential)
•Cisco Certified (Preferred but not essential)
•Working knowledge of routing protocols (Desirable)
•Minimum of three years hands-on experience in operating, maintaining and implementing routed (IP) networks required (Desirable)

OR
•Matric (NQF Level 4) and one year technical qualification or CISCO certification with
•Min 5 years working experience in Telecommunication and IP Networks (Essential)
