Job Title:Research Administration Assistant

The Faculty Research Office (FRO) is an integral part of UCT’s Faculty of Health Sciences and aims to facilitate an increase in the productivity and quality of research in the Faculty. The research office provides project management and administrative support to foster strategic research collaborations and trans-/inter- disciplinary research initiatives, supports research-related committees and assists researchers with the administration of their local grant applications, annual publication count, research ethics committee applications, fellowships and research events. The purpose of this job is to provide administrative assistance to the Research Administration Manager and the Strategic Projects Manager.

The tasks below are based in a changing environment and the specific tasks assigned may differ in detail, but the level of responsibility and overall nature of the work will remain the same.

Requirements:

- Provide general research administrative support to the Faculty Research Administration Manager and Strategic Project Manager
- Assist with research-related projects, including in relation to the centenary 2012
- Capture research related data
- Assist with annual Publication Count
- Assist with website and electronic maintenance

Requirements:

- Grade 12 and one year administrative experience in the Higher Education sector
- Good organizational skills and ability to pay attention to details
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent computer skills, particularly Ms Word, Internet and Excel

A driver’s license would be advantageous.

The annual cost of employment is negotiable between R84 711 and R155 963.
